Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Papers submitted for publication must be in English language, typed double-spaced on an A4 size, using Microsoft Office Word, Times New Roman Style and on font 12.
  • Footnotes should also be Times New Roman style, 10 font size and must be placed seriatim at the bottom of each page. Please keep notes, which will appear as footnotes, to a minimum. Footnotes should be as brief as possible, used primarily for references to quotations, views or arguments, and not used for excessive discursive passages. Endnotes are not acceptable.
  • A full paper should be within the range of Twenty (20) pages or 10,000.00 words, using either the NALT for those submitting in Nigeria and / or OSCOLA 2012 or any other law standard referencing style for legal research consistently. Case notes and all other reviews should NOT exceed a maximum of 10 to 12 pages.
  • Papers submitted must have a cover page containing names, titles, institutional affiliations qualifications, e- mail addresses and telephone numbers of the author(s).
  • Papers submitted for publications must contain an Abstract not exceeding 350 words, an Introduction and a Conclusion.
  • Papers submitted for publication will be subjected to double-blind review by our reviewers from any part of the world. A feedback will thereafter be communicated to the contributor(s) as may be appropriate.
  • Authors are expected to pay for the review fees to a designated account. The approved bank and evidence of payment must be attached to the mail address.
  • The opinions and accuracy of facts contained in each paper are and remains the opinions of the authors and not of the editorial board.
  • All Papers submitted must be original and should not infringe on the personal or copyrights of others.

  1. Introduction:

KB Law Scholars Journal welcomes submissions in the field of law, including legal research, articles, reviews, commentaries, and case analyses.

  1. Types of Submissions:

  1. Manuscript Preparation:

Authors should prepare their manuscripts following the journal's formatting and style guidelines. This includes:

Document format: Microsoft Word or PDF.

Font: Times New Roman, 12-point.

Double-spaced text.

Citation style: [Specify citation style, e.g., Bluebook, APA, etc.].

  1. Title Page:

The title page should include:

Title of the manuscript.

Author names and affiliations.

Contact information for the corresponding author.

Any acknowledgments or funding sources.

  1. Abstract:

Include an abstract of no more than 250 words summarizing the main points of the manuscript.

  1. Main Text:

Organize the main text into appropriate sections (e.g., introduction, methodology, results, discussion, conclusion).

Clearly present arguments, evidence, and legal analysis.

Cite relevant legal precedents, statutes, or case law.

  1. Citations and References:

Use proper legal citation style for all references.

Include a list of references at the end of the manuscript.

  1. Tables and Figures:

 

Include tables, figures, and other graphical elements as necessary to support your arguments.

Ensure all tables and figures are properly formatted and cited.

  1. Submission Process:

Manuscripts should be submitted through the KB Law Scholars Journal online submission system.

Authors must provide a cover letter, confirming that the submission is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is not under consideration by other journals.

  1. Peer Review:

Submitted manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer review process. Authors should expect constructive feedback from reviewers.

  1. Ethical Considerations:

Authors are expected to adhere to high ethical standards in research and writing.

Disclose any potential conflicts of interest and properly attribute the work of others, avoiding plagiarism.

  1. Copyright and Licensing:

Authors will retain copyright to their work but grant KB Law Scholars Journal a non-exclusive license to publish and distribute the manuscript.

  1. Publication Fees:

KB Law Scholars Journal may charge publication fees. Authors are encouraged to seek funding for these fees through their institutions, grants, or other sources. Fee waivers or discounts may be available for authors with financial constraints.

  1. Revisions and Proofs:

Authors may be required to make revisions based on reviewer comments.

Authors will receive proofs for final review before publication.
